4×4, 4wd and four wheel drive and AWD all these terms are define the four-wheel vehicles drive train that allows all four wheels to receive power from the engine simultaneously. Many state people associate the term with off-road vehicles. In additionally US these cars are popular in the broader sport utility vehicles category.
Four-wheel drive term suggest heavy duty truck like vehicles that driver that manually drive in switch between street , four-wheel drive mode for low traction conditions such as ice, mud, or loose gravel. 4WD systems there are three basic options:
Part-time 4WD
Full-time 4WD
All-wheel drive
In short term of Part-time 4WD: that it must be continually engaged and then disengaged in conditions of light rain or snow. This type of system is best for people, who really don’t need 4WD.
In short term of Full-time 4WD: This 4×4 more advanced convenient form of 4WD allows you to choose between all of the same settings, but can remain engaged while on dry pavement. Added to the High and Low settings is an automatic or full-time 4WD setting.
All-wheel drive: is same as to full-time 4WD in that the system is always sending power to the wheels with the most traction. Little differentiate the AWD has no 2WD switch. It’s operates like 4WD mode. Sometimes the road gets greasy than AWD control the system locks the axles and automatically distributes power to all four of the tires. If the AWD system allows the driver to switch to a “low” range gearing setting, like in the Dodge Trucks and Toyota trucks, then it is probably planned for severe off-road use.
Day by day more often,4Wd Rental and all-wheel drive are becoming trendy options not only for sport utility vehicles, as well as cars also. All SUVs and pickup trucks offer 4WD systems, and even some minivans like the Toyota Sienna and Pontiac Montana.
4wd vehicles found help in the gearing option with equipment of off-road driving. Following are a variety of conditions in which you would want to use 4WD to avoid downhill or spinning:
Hi Range 4WD: If we have necessary than four wheels given facilities to drive full speed. Naturally 4wd mode ratios are very high compare than the gear ratios of 2WD.
Low Range 4WD: Reduces the strain on your vehicle and very slow speed. Every time you just remember to stay below 25mph in low range. Low range gear ratios are approximately half that of high range.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
Solar Portable Handheld Shower
Portable Gas Stove
Air-Conditioning / heating (Driver’s Cabin only)
Diesel
Manual Transmission
Power Steering
Radio / Cassette Player
High & Low Ratio 4WD
Long Range Fuel Tank
Kitchen Kit
1 roof top tent, 1 ground tent
3 x sleeping mats for ground tent
Outdoor table (clips onto the rear drawers)

One of the greatest qualities of a truck, whether a semi-truck,4×4 pickup truck, or dump truck, is its ability to carry heavy loads. But truck owners know that repeated use of the truck bed with heavy materials will cause wear and tear. In order to protect ones investment in the truck, truck box liners have become a popular form of defense. They not only increase the lifespan of the vehicle, but will also increase the value of the truck if the owner should ever consider trading, selling, or leasing their equipment.

There many different features that truck box liners have to offer, but they all fall into two general categories: drop-in and spray-on. There are pros and cons of each option, which should be examined and researched before a purchase is made. The type of liner a buyer ultimately chooses depends largely on the type of hauling that will take place with his or her truck.
Drop-in bed liners offer a high amount of protection to a truck’s bed, and are generally applied to industrial-grade trucks. The liners are often fairly thick and have rigid bodies to prevent dents in the bed of the truck. Also, they last a long time, are easy to install and remove, and are easy to clean. Some plastics manufacturers, like Horn Plastics Inc., produce a variety of truck bed liner styles, with each style offering different strengths. For example, UHMW (Ultra-High Molecular Weight) liners, contain silicon to make the surface slippery, allowing materials to be easily unloaded without sticking.
Drop in liners need to be properly installed and maintained, so they don’t shift around in the truck bed. For example, if dirt, sand, or other materials get underneath the liner, scratching of the bed could occur. This can also cause weak spots to form in the liner, but following through with the recommended maintenance and cleaning is the best way to prevent this from happening. When maintained properly, the lifetime of HMW and UHMW drop-in liners are greatly extended.
The second form of liner is a spray-on type. These liners are sprayed directly onto the truck bed, and there is a reduced possibility of slipping or scratching. Although they are not as thick as the drop-in style, the spray-on liners do minimize minor denting. They are easy to clean, available in many different colors, and have a sleek look. However, because these bed liners are applied directly to the truck, they cannot be removed. Heavy or sharp loads will have a greater chance of damaging, gouging, or denting the truck bed with spray-on liners because of their limited thickness and durability. Also, spilled paints, or other hard-to-remove stains are made even more difficult to remove because of these liners, potentially overruling the variety of color choices by permanently staining the bed.
A truck bed liner exists for almost any type of load one my wish to carry. When choosing an appropriate liner for your truck bed, a few important points to keep in mind are:
1. How is the truck being used
2. What types of loads is it carrying
3. How long does the liner need to last
4. Are the visual aesthetics of the truck important
While evaluating liners, these questions will facilitate finding and choosing the right type of truck for sale for your needs. And you’ll end up with a safe and effective product that will extend the capabilities and lifetime of your truck.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that there were 3.6 million tractor trailer trucks in use in 1998, as reported by the NHTSA’s Office of Crash Avoidance Research. Tractor trailer trucks are becoming the most costly and fatal automobile accidents.
There were 7.9 million registered heavy trucks in United States, which is 4 percent of all registered vehicles, according to statistics compiled by the NHTSA.
Heavy duty trucks are considered those with a weight greater than 10,000 pounds. Heavy trucks are involveved in an array of traffic accidents, with this number ever increasing. These can also include rollover accidents and. Although rollover accidents are not as frequent, they can result in more damage to the vehicle and more injury to the driver.
Improving Tractor Trailer Truck Technology
Tractor-trailer trucks are involved in approximate average of 200,000 crashes annually, however, that number is quickly increasing, according to the NHTSA.There were 435,000 large trucks involved in traffic accidents, of these accidents, nearly 4,542 involved a fatality.
Attempts are being made to improve the technology used within the tractor-trailer truck Dump truck industry and with the development of commercial vehicles. Due to unavoidable constraints among current combination-unit truck trailer electrical powering and communications systems, there is becoming an increase in mechanical failures causing truck crashes.
The NHTSA has developed the Truck Multiplexing (TruckMux) project to better equip truck drivers with communications and technology between the tractor and the trailer, because truck accidents can frequently occur due to a loss of control between the two units. Other items that are also being worked on to better improve tractor-trailer trucks and thus decrease the number of accidents associated, include:
These are just a few of the technological issues that can cause a tractor-trailer truck accident, however, there are a plethora of reasons that a tractor-trailer truck accident can occur. For example, a study from the Large Truck Crash Causation Study from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, NHTSA and U.S Department of Transportation (DOT) discovered that there are two different categories of truck accidents: the environment and unforeseen conditions, including driver/driving conditions.
Tractor Trailer Accidents
The NHTSA has also developed a 10-year study to better determine the trends of heavy truck accidents. According to the study, the increase of truck accidents is occurring, and while many more individuals involved in accidents are wearing seatbelts/restraints, the fatalities associated with heavy truck accident/tractor trailer truck accidents is increasing. The study, conducted from 1994 to 2002, determined that:
* The lowest number of fatal accidents for this time period was 523 in 2002.
* On average, 18 percent of all heavy truck accidents and fatal injuries were a result of a single vehicle rollover accident.
* There was an annual 6 percent of heavy truck accidents involving fatalities and incapacitating injuries associated with restrained drivers.
* Thirty five percent of drivers in heavy trucks were wearing restraint, such as seatbelt, which is an average.
Avoiding Harm After a Tractor Trailer Truck Accident
If involved in a Utility trailer accident, it is imperative that, whether injuries are visible or not, an individual seek medical attention immediately. As some injuries may be internal, it is important to ensure all potential conditions are thoroughly reviewed by a physician. Discussing your tractor trailer accident with an experienced automobile attorney is advisable.
Often, medical bills as well as additional costs of missing work, school, etc., are associated with being involved in a tractor-trailer truck accident, which is why it may be necessary to develop truck accident litigation and pursue compensation for the injury incurred.

By all available indications, the best 4×4 Dodge truck is the Dakota in all of its incarnations. The Dodge Dakota has been a favorite since its inception. For purposes of this article, we are going to discuss the specifications of the 2007 Dodge Dakota truck, which is a favorite because it is the only pickup truck in its class which offers a V8 engine. Those who drive and rely on pickup trucks appreciate this because, in general, especially for people who have to use a truck for their jobs, they are hauling and towing a lot of heavy loads. A powerful engine comes in handy for this, but according to numerous reviews of the 2007 Dakota, this vehicle is advantageous for many more reasons.
The 2007 Dakota is considered a high quality Dodge truck 4×4 in part because of its engine; even standard, it comes with a 3.7 liter Magnum V6 engine which features two hundred and ten horsepower at 5200 rpm, with two hundred and thirty five pounds per feet of torque at 4000 rpm. There is also the option for the High Output 4.7 liter V8 engine, which is considered one of the best engines currently on the market. It creates two hundred and sixty horsepower and three hundred and ten pounds per feet of torque. Given the fact that most truck fans utilize their trucks to haul heavy loads and to tow strenuous items, this kind of engine power is not only required but thought to be the highest possible standard. It offers fifteen miles per gallon for city driving and nineteen miles per gallon for highway driving.
The 2007 Dodge Dakota is also praised for the way it handles and its braking capabilities. It comes with rack and pinion steering as well as highly developed hydroformed rails on the chassis. This allows for a solid driving experience and maneuverability, which again, makes it a good choice of Dodge truck 4×4 for those drivers who rely on their trucks to tow or haul extremely heavy loads and cargo. It has also been ranked on several lists as producing the best gas mileage for a mid sized pickup truck. In general, it is always in the ranking on top five lists, usually falling somewhere between the number two position and the number four positions. The Environmental Protection Agency plays an important role in determining gas mileage, as does the amount of miles per gallon a truck gets for city and highway driving.

Buying a used pickup truck can be an overwhelming task. You could go for a well established manufacturer like Dodge, Ford, Chevrolet etc but there are still much more options to consider nonetheless. And it doesn’t really matter who you are or where you are from, chances are that you are going to need a truck at least one in your lifetime. Now, if you’ve got the financial means to purchase one, that’s very good. If you don’t, you can always consider truck rental or truck leasing. And here are some pointers that could lead you in the right direction if you intend on purchasing a used truck.
SIZE
How big a 4×4 pickup truck do you need? Do you need it for carrying things around from time to time, do you need it for your business? With these things in mind, decide upon the size of the truck that would be enough for you.
PRICE
Now you will instantly think of the price, so you watch out for the price. What you should know though is the fact that the price of a truck can vary greatly, depending on the model. It can go from affordable to very expensive, just like a car would.
ENGINE
Remember that one of the most important things to consider about a pickup truck is its engine. Most trucks possess a V6 engine. This engine relies on a fair enough amount of fuel. However, most full sized trucks usually have V8 engines that deplete the gas tank very fast. In this case, you should definitely consider a diesel engine.
NUMBER OF PEOPLE IT CAN CARRY
Will you be using the truck to transport
people from one place to another? Maybe you’ve thought about starting a business like that. In this case, it’s advisable to buy an extended truck that can carry 8 or more people.
If you don’t have the means to actually buy a pickup truck, you could always consider truck leasing, or truck renting. Truck renting is suitable for cases in which the purchase of a new truck isn’t justified. And here are some things to think about when leasing for short term:
1. Check all the prices and rental terms. You won’t lack companies which will offer leasing and rental services.
2. Be careful with the details. Don’t sign the contract for a rental until you are very clear about hidden costs and rental requirements. If there are any extra per mile fuel charges, make sure you know about them.
3. Make sure you check out the rental insurance. You want to make sure who is the insurance issued to.
4. Remember the time and place of the 4×4 truck return. If you plan on going out of town, remember to take a map with you, so you won’t get lost.
Someday in your life, you will feel the need of a truck after all, they are one of the most important means of transportation on land. Whether you just want to move a few things or an entire house, you can surely find a truck for sale that will suit your needs. Nowadays, many businesses make their deliveries with a 4X4 truck.

The international concern about the environment is encouraging. Due to the desire for the preservation of the natural world, interest in particular, has been awakening in regards to pollution and saving the planet’s energy sources.
Important steps have been made in this direction. Scientists, engineers and vehicle producers have combined efforts to create new green vehicles, or at least, to modify the existing ones to reflect ecological needs and help humanity survive into the future. One notable outcome of their efforts is represented by the appearance of more and more hybrid vehicles. And this is where hybrid trucks come into play.
What’s the deal about hybrid trucks? Well, as you know, the transportation of goods relies a lot on big vehicles like trucks all over the world. There are three main cargo moving methods - boats, trains and trucks! And usually the last leg in the journey is completed by these trucks - big vehicles which are huge consumers of fuel. Commercial hybrid trucks are needed to conserve fuel and still get goods to market.
People are becoming more aware every day of the importance of preserving our environment and not using our energy resources wastefully. This is true even of owners of businesses in the field of transportation. Rising fuel costs and squeezed profit margins have changed their views and turned them to seeking hybrid trucks. Changing laws and state regulations are also encouraging the purchase of commercial hybrid trucks.
It seems, that hybrid trucks may represent one of the most popular hybrid items in the automotive industry. People are waiting eagerly for the latest achievements in the hybrid vehicle construction business.
And people are interested in all kinds of duel-fuel trucks which include hybrid electric, diesel and flex fuel pickups, hybrid commercial trucks, freight trucks, semis and many others.
The number of manufacturers involved in the design of hybrid trucks is increasing, and efforts are progressing in the direction of getting fully electric vehicles. Thus Chevy and GMC Trucks are bringing out versions of hybrid pickups.
Truck drivers will get satisfaction soon, when promises made by Toyota Trucks, Dodge Trucks, Freightliner Trucks, International Truck Engine, Eaton and Kenworth will materialize into the launching of new hybrid trucks. A nice bonus in the making of hybrid trucks is the considerable lowering of the noise level, in addition to the energy saving features. Hybrid trucks are quieter, cleaner and more reliable to use: and better for our future.

The General Motors Corporation, formerly known as GMC Truck is a name that is very well known throughout the world. In 2007 this company was GM’s second largest selling vehicle division coming in close behind Chevrolet trucks. GMC was originally dubbed the Rapid Motor Vehicle Company by Max Grabowski when he established the company in 1901. This was when some of the earliest commercial trucks were designed. By 1909 the company was turned over to General Motors which then formed the basis for General Motors Truck Company.
Since that time GMC has been manufacturing trucks that are used throughout the world. Thought their personal and smaller vehicles are very popular, the trucks from this company are highly appreciated by truck drivers around the world. A book was released by GMC in 2002 that details the company’s history, their ups and downs and the process by which General Motors acquired the truck division.
The main commercial vehicle distribution is in vans, light duty and medium duty trucks although fire trucks, ambulances and heavy duty trucks and buses have been manufactured under the GMC Truck name in the past. Although GMC and Chevrolet trucks are virtually the same they do have some distinctive differences that have survived throughout the years. The trim, engine options and typically the price are a few of the differences that are very evident between the two. Once the production of the quad headlight designs were halted, the two truck brands became even more similar, much to the point of confusion for many drivers.
Of course serious truck drivers will know the difference immediately. While Chevrolet trucks have a distinct look about them today, GMC trucks will always bear the same quality that has endured form more than 100 years. Drivers who choose this brand of truck are typically not easily swayed to other models. With features ranging from standard power outlets and cruise control on the inside to heated and lighted mirrors, running lights and roof mounted air deflectors on the outside, General Motors is producing top of the line trucks that all drivers are proud to sit in and drive. From the smaller personal sedans and SUVs to the heavy duty freight haulers, these trucks have withstood years of history to become one of the top chosen truck brands for truck drivers everywhere. It is not completely surprising that the GMC name has become somewhat synonymous with commercial driving.

GMC stands for General Motors Corporations, or as it was formerly called, GMC Trucks, not to be confused with Georgia Military College or the Giant Molecular Cloud, which have nothing to do with trucks. GMC is an automotive company that started in Detroit, Michigan, in 1908 and formerly known as GMC Truck, is a brand name used on trucks, vans, and SUVs marketed in North America and the Middle East by General Motors.
All sorts of GMC trucks are covered: light duty truck to heavy duty truck, old to new, military to civilian. Note that from 67-72 they are identical except of course no side marker lights in 67, and the 69-72 models use the hoods with steep front slopes like their 69-72 Chevrolet counterparts. They are some of the toughest vehicles on the road and they are equipped to get the job done.
GMC trucks are positioned as the Professional Grade versions of the equivalent Chevrolet vehicles and are at the same level of the Chevy object and one level above the Yukon. In fact, a lot of GMC trucks are indistinguishable from Chevy except for superficial trim designs. The current Chevrolets and GMCs are still pretty new (they were redesigned for the 1999 model year), but their conservative styling doesn’t look as modern as the Ford’s. The new GMC trucks are good buys.
General Motors Corporations currently manufactures SUVs, vans, pickup, light-duty and medium-duty trucks. They offer more options and standard features than Chevrolet, while Chevrolet is often offered as an entry-level car. General Motors Corporations makes automobiles and automobile engines as well. They also manufacture trucks for Budget Truck Rental, along with other companies, Ford truck, Navistar International and Isuzu trucks.
General Motors Corporations trucks are known for their performance and reliability on and off the road. The best acknowledgment probably was the attention from tradesmen at job sites, guys who really drive and use pickups.
A fine American made trucks, Chevy trucks and GMC trucks are easy to drive and comfortable. They are easy to park and inviting to drive in tight spots that would scare you behind the wheel of rivals. That’s a big reason they feel so very satisfying to drive.Whichever GMC truck vehicle you own, the need for its performance, aftermarket, or replacement parts including stylish and practical accessories is an indispensable aspect of owning such vehicle.
GMC trucks are known for their performance and reliability on and off the road. They are engineered to the highest grade: Professional Grade(tm) and are packed with features that make them outstanding medium duty trucks, such as: standard automatic transmissions; 14-inch no-adjust Valeo clutch;outstanding turning radius (53 degrees); standard hydraulic antilock brakes or available air antilock brakes; and progressive spring aids to provide soft landings in”bottoming out” situations.
GMC trucks are made with car quality. They are good for the private user and are the smart choice for successful businesses. General Motors has a lot riding on the success of its new design full-size pickups, the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. They will celebrate its one hundredth anniversary in 2008.

If you plan to use your truck like a car, desiring quick, quiet acceleration and rarely ever haul a heavy load and don’t plan to it for a long time, you may want a gasoline engine. Gas engines run smoother, fuel is easier to find, and gas engines
start easier in cold weather.
If you plan to use your truck for towing, value good fuel economy and plan to put plenty of miles on it, you may want a diesel. The price to buy a diesel truck is really high, although they can offer you a lot in return.
Below, you’ll find the leading truck manufacturers and what they offer you.
Dodge truck
The 2500 and 3500 Dodge Ram Heavy Duty trucks are the newest 3/4 and 1 ton trucks on the road. Back in 2002, the Ram didn’t have enough power with the 245 HP 9.5L. Dodge promised more powerful engines for the 2500/3500 platform and they delivered on that promise.
The new base engine is the 5.7L gasoline V-8 that’s not only the most powerful engine of the group at 345 HP but also revives the well known and historical Hemi name.
Ford truck
Ford helped push the 3/4 ton and 1 ton truck market to where it is today when it introduced it’s international engineered power stroke diesel back in 1994. Before 1994, these diesels were poorly built and no match for the big gasoline engines.
From 1994 to 2002, over 70% of super duty Fords were sold with the optional 7.3L V-8 diesel engine. This engine helped to put Ford among the leaders in diesel trucks, as they had more than they needed to dominate the market.
Chevrolet/GMC truck
The GM 2500/3500 twins Silverado HD and Sierra HD both come standard with GM’s 6.0L gas engine V-8. This engine is ideal for 3/4 ton trucks where towing isn’t a concern. The upgrades start with the 8.1L gas V-8 that’s based on Chevrolet’s venerable big block engine.
Over the years, diesel trucks have proven to be effecient with mileage, great for towing, and easy on maintenance. Unlike gas engines, diesel engines do not have spark plugs, which means you won’t need to get them tuned up near as much as gasoline engines.
For those who like to haul heavy loads on a frequent basis, diesel is the way to go. You can get quite a few miles per gallon, and diesel trucks are built to go 250,000 miles or more before the engine needs to be rebuit, making them a purchase that is more than worth your money.
