If you have a pick up truck, you should definitely buy fiberglass truck lids for it. These lids represent the latest trend in pickup truck cargo care. The reason behind their popularity is that they are lightweight, are easy to install and use, and can be customized according to the use.
These fiberglass truck lids are made of fiberglass which is very lightweight yet is a very strong material. In fact these lids are very easy to install and use because of their light weight. You can easily install them with a wrench and screw, You do not have to drill any bad looking holes in your truck. Plus, the lids are durable enough to withstand the worst weather and road conditions. Since they are so light in weight, they are very easy to operate. You can easily lift the cover, secure it in place, and then access the truck bed. Usually these lids have hinges near the bed of the truck which can be opened from tailgate. Some of the lids have these hinges running in the middle of the bed. Therefore they can be easily opened from either side.

Also like mentioned above these lids are completely customizable. You can easily accustom them according to the color of that particular truck. You can paint entire designs or emblems on them. Usually the fiberglass truck lids have a handle located over the tailgate. This handle provides a professional look to the lids. You can add a wing on the back end which adds to the overall aerodynamics of the vehicle. The lids provide you with an organized storage system. You can easily store the loose items in the bed as the lid will keep them from falling off the truck. It keeps the cargo safe as it protects the cargo from any damaging weather conditions like snow, rain and extreme sun. Since the cargo is covered, the chances of cargo theft are considerably less.
Also the lids provide you with an immediate improvement in gas mileage. This is because usually when the air flows over the aerodynamic front end of the truck, it tends to swirl into the rear truck bed and catch on to the tailgate. As a result the pickup truck loses several miles. However the lid covers have a tight, aerodynamic shape that covers the drag-prone open bed. Hence the air hits the lids and passes past the vehicle. The best part is that it looks good also. 4×4 Ford pickup trucks and some other manufacturers have also endorsed the idea. The lids are available in a range of smooth leather grain patterns as well as custom color matched style. All these benefits and features make these fiberglass truck lids a must have for your pick up truck.

The F-150 FX2 Sport pickup truck was one of many Ford cars and trucks shown at the 2006 auto show in Las Vegas. Ford’s goal was to create a customized looking truck that was built using factory parts and accessories that are already available. They wanted power and a bold presence — but not a way-out concept truck; it had to be something a new owner could create.
Before the design team went to work on the truck, they considered consumer trends and even asked automotive journalists for their input during an event in Texas. They decided to base the Ford FX2 Sport truck on the existing FX2–a popular two-wheel drive version of the F-150 truck. The original FX2 package already has a monotone look, with color matched bumpers, front lower air dam and mirror covers and a flat “billet style” grille.
To create the FX2 Sport truck, Ford designer Joe Siler and his team added loads of truck accessories. There is a supercharger that increases the truck’s hp from about 300 to about 450. Now thats a lot of power. There are ceramic coated headers to extend header life and cut down on heat in the engine compartment, for better performance. There is Ford’s sport exhaust for better exhaust flow, another performance enhancer. A fiberglass bed cover and a bedliner has also been provided. A double stripe that fades along its length to almost match the color of the truck. The manufacturers have also given a remote starter.
Now that the truck is out and about Ford will listen to opinions about it, but it sounds like the company achieved its objectives. The truck gave Ford an opportunity to test out its accessory line to discover whether or not it was broad enough to create a fully decked-out truck.
They have a truck to show the public and their dealers, one that says you can do the same thing with truck accessories. It would probably take 3-4 days to install identical accessories on a new truck. By doing it before delivery the customization would become part of the financed price, not something you’d have to pay for as a lump sum after wards.

Toyota unveiled its Toyota FTX full-size pickup truck concept at the 2004 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.
This new concept was developed by the TMS Advanced Product Strategy Group and Calty, Toyota’s North American-based, research and design center located in Newport Beach, California. The truck offers a hint to the direction in size and styling of future Toyota full-size pickup Trucks. The Toyota FTX concept is about 19-feet in length, nearly seven feet in width, and six-and-one-half feet in height. The FTX is a full-fledged body-on-frame, “Super-C-Cab” 4×4 pickup truck. It has the interior room of a double cab, yet opens 90 degrees with suicide doors.
The exterior features have bumpers with integrated tow hooks and special hideaway universal carabiner-type tie-down hooks in the truck bed. Underneath the rear skid-plate is a multi-functional unit that houses an electric generator, an air compressor and other outlets. Inside the bed, there is a solid metal collapsible hidden job box that can be erected for safe storage of tools and supplies. In the rear tailgate, there is a hideaway ramp that extends to the ground when the gate is open, allowing heavy items to be rolled into the bed, instead of being lifted.
Toyota has made the interiors really roomy and attractive. The manufacturers have also not compromised with this truck’s accessories. The instrument panel and center console arch bend outward, wrapping around each occupant, forming two protective cells. A wide center console separates at a large center display panel. The console contains an armrest-mounted control-arm that includes all instrumentation and an operational lever that is angled toward the driver. The seat height and steering wheel angle of the FTX are positioned high. Suspension seats isolate the driver and passenger from rough terrain and include deep center pads styled after a horseman’s saddle for comfort.
The floating, foldaway rear seats are styled after recreational boats. The rear seat base is affixed to a center beam, suspending the seats off the floor for under-seat storage. Over-sized door and pillar pull handles and seat mounted grips assist in getting in and out of the truck. A large overhead track lamp can be pulled down and slide side-to-side across the cabin.

Dodge Ram is available in many different versions depending on the need and convenience. Dodge Ram pickup trucks come in regular cab and four-door Quad Cab body styles. Light-duty Rams have V-6 or V-8 power, while heavy-duty models have V-8 or diesel power. A sunroof is available on Quad Cab models, and Sirius Satellite Radio is offered. A Power Wagon version of the 2500 pickup is available. Dodge also offers a Mega Cab model.
The 2500 Power Wagon edition holds a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 that cranks out 345 hp and 375 pounds-feet of torque. Either a six-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed automatic can be installed. Special features include locking front and rear differentials, an electronically disconnecting front sway bar and a custom-built 12,000-pound winch. Polished, forged-aluminum 17-inch wheels hold 33-inch BF Goodrich tires.
Regular 2500 pickups are available with a diesel engine or the Hemi V-8. Serving as a replacement for the Cummins 5.9-liter turbo-diesel inline-six-cylinder beginning in January 2007, a newly optional Cummins 6.7-liter turbo-diesel inline-six develops 350 hp and 610 pounds-feet of torque (650 with the new six-speed automatic transmission).
Dodge Ram 2500 pickups with the regular cab have an 8-foot cargo bed, ride a 140.5-inch wheelbase and measure 229.7 inches long overall. Quad Cab models come with either a 6.3- or 8-foot cargo bed and ride a 140.5- or 160.5-inch wheelbase. Truck accessories have been also loaded to the optimum levels. All heavy-duty Ram models have a Sweptline (slab-sided) cargo bed. A remote starter is optional for 2007.
A Ram 2500 with the Hemi V-8 sounds and feels like a muscle car when pushed, though it settles down quietly for ordinary use. Performance is this Ram’s strong point, but it’s accompanied by a seriously lumpy ride over uneven pavement. Steering is confident for a full-size pickup, but the back wheels spin easily on wet pavement when the bed is empty. Long seat bottoms in the Ram 2500 offer an easy-chair experience. Interior space is plentiful, especially in the Quad Cab. Overall, the Ram 2500 doesn’t feel much like a typical heavy-duty pickup
